Free e-mail service and proxy functionality for the MailStore Server and MailStore Service Provider Edition e-mail archiving solutions.

Journaling & Proxy functionality
Free email server and proxy service for MailStore Server and MailStore Service Provider Edition (SPE) email archiving solutions. MailStore Gateway includes SMTP and POP3 proxy functionality. The tool offers basic mail server functions for receiving and archiving messages from Microsoft 365, Google Workspace and other mail servers that send messages to external archiving solutions via SMTP. MailStore Gateway allows you to set up and manage secure mailboxes, as destinations for journaling and archiving rules, simply and efficiently.

MailStore Gateway performance features

In addition to SMTP and POP3 proxy functionalities, MailStore Gateway offers a basic mail server that makes it possible to archive emails from cloud services such as Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace, or from other mail servers. Third-party external mailboxes, which were previously necessary, are no longer required.

Proxy functionality
MailStore Gateway can act as an SMTP and POP3 proxy, allowing you to create copies of all email messages exchanged between clients and email servers.

POP3 server
A POP3 server that enables MailStore Server and MailStore SPE to archive emails via a standardised email transmission protocol on the MailStore Gateway.

Security
Strong password protections, no unencrypted connections supported, robust encryption of stored data and no access to data without the mailbox password.

MailStore Gateway as Server: Many email servers offer the possibility of creating copies of incoming and outgoing messages for archiving purposes. However, while local email servers allow these copies to be delivered to local mailboxes, most cloud-based services (such as Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace) do not make this possible, either for technical or licensing reasons. It is therefore necessary for external mailboxes to act as the destination for the diary or archiving rules. MailStore Gateway offers a basic mail server function, allowing emails to be received and subsequently archived. This provides cloud service customers with a straightforward option for archiving email messages, without the need to use third-party mailboxes.

MailStore Gateway as Proxy: Many small businesses don’t have their own mail server or use mail services that don’t support logging or archiving rules. These companies may use a combination of POP3 and SMTP in their email clients to send and receive messages. To ensure that all incoming and outgoing emails are archived, MailStore Gateway can log communications between the email client and the mail server, effectively acting as an email proxy.
